Basic House Rules

  1. Accommodation fees must be paid in full, either before or on arrival where after the Keys will be handed over.
  2. No payment will be refunded for any cancellations of bookings, one week or less, prior to the arrival date.
  3. Kindly remove muddy shoes / boots before enter Guest House.
  4. Thank you for not cleaning make-up with linen or towels, but make use of the facecloth provided.
  5. Where there is a shower over the bath, ensure you hang the shower curtain in the bath before using the shower.
  6. Thanks for not hanging bath towels over the shower curtain rails and / or Glass partitions.
  7. Please refrain from eating in the rooms, especially in the beds. Feel free to use the dining room, braai area and or tea garden. Please use the table and chairs for coffee and rusks provided in the rooms.
  8. Smoking is completely forbidden inside the Guest house. Only smoke where ashtrays are provided.
  9. It would be appreciated if you do not clean your shoes with the towels, facecloth or linen.
  10. Do not latch the front door with the slide or chain, for other guests need to get in.
  11. When leaving the room please ensure all electric appliances have been switched off, like electric blankets, heaters etc..
  12. Use the Luggage caddy provided for your suitcases and /or bags, and not the beds.
  13. Ensure Motor Gate is closed when you leave.
  14. Please switch off TV after use.
  15. Only booked-in guests will be allowed in the guest house.
  16. Check-out time: 10h00. Management will book you in and out. Please arrange booked-out time prior the day before leaving or at arrival.
  17. Damage to the A La Maison Guesthouse building or contents thereof, caused by guest(s), will be added to the guest(s) bill. (This includes damage to mattress’s, bed linen, and towels)

Full House Rules & Conditions

  1. Check–in
  2. Normal check in time starts at 14h00, but every effort will be made to accommodate earlier or later check-ins, (if arranged in advance). It is, however, possible to drop off luggage prior to check in, if desired.
  3. Check-out
  4. Checkout time is before or at 10h00. Please tell us in advance if require a later checkout and we will do our utmost to accommodate your request.
  5. Room keys on arrival
  6. Keys will be handed over to the guest after payment and administration. Special arrangement for key collection must be made for late arrivals.
  7. Room keys on departure
  8. Please hand room keys to Management before leaving. If you departure is very early, arrange with Management in advance.
  9. Room keys during long term stay
  10. Long term stay over, guest must lock their rooms on their way out and keep their keys of the duration of stay.
  11. Lost key or damage to locks
  12. The cost for replacement of lost keys or damaged locks is applicable and a total amount of R500 for lost keys and R800 for locks replacement to be paid immediately.
  13. Breakfast
  14. Breakfast is available on request and must be arranged in advance (preferable at booking your room). Breakfast will be an extra fee.
  15. Smoking
  16. Smoking is completely forbidden inside the house. Smoking is permitted outside the house, please use the ashtrays placed at the sitting and barbecue areas.
  17. Refunds
  18. There will be no refunds for early departures, breakdowns of heaters, appliances, etc., if the breakdown is due to conditions over which the house management has no control.
  19. Guest Rooms
    1. Please ensure all heaters and electric-blankets are switched off before leaving the room at all times.
    2. Please do not use flammables for heating, cooking or candles etc., in the guest room or corridors without the consent of management.
    3. Cooking, eating and storing food in the rooms is not allowed.
    4. Please do not use the guest rooms for business activities or for any purpose other than accommodation use, without the consent of management.
  20. Valuables, security and storage
    1. If needed a safe-deposit box it is available on request.
    2. Management is not responsible for lost items; please lock the doors when you leave.
    3. Although the guesthouse management takes the responsible steps to ensure the safety and security of all guests and their possessions, guests retain final responsibility for their own safety and security.
    4. Keep rooms locked at all times when absent.
  21. Parking
    1. Parking is available free of charge for all house guests. Do not park in the way of the electrical motorized gates when in a fully open position.
    2. Please ensure you close the gates as it is not closes automatically after a few seconds.
    3. Do not leave any valuables inside your vehicle as the guest house management cannot accept responsibility for the theft of any such articles while your car is parked at the guest house.
  22. Toilets
  23. No cigarette buds, cotton buds, tampons, sanitary pads or any material other than toilet paper may flush down the toilet. Charges will occur for any blockages.
  24. General
  25. Guests have no access to rooms, cupboards and areas marked “No entry” or “Private”.
  26. Common areas
  27. The living room, dining and TV room, barbecue and other common areas of the house, guest are encourage to use them to the need or recreation, nevertheless there are some rules to abide by;
    1. Living Room
      • Guests are allowed to use the living room to relaxed and read.
      • Eating and snacking in the living room is completely forbidden.
      • The room should be kept as you’ve found it, nice and tidy. If by chance you notice any dirt, please inform management.
      • Avoid making noise or disturbing the other guests. Attention to limiting noise between the hours of 10:00pm and 8:00am.
      • We request the guests to restrain from making any noice outside the building.
    2. Dinning and TV room
      • Please use this room for meals. It will be appreciated if you use the dining room table to eat by.
    3. Barbecue Area
      • Keep the barbecue area clean. After use leave it as you’ve found it.
      • Use proper starter fluid.
      • Store any such starter fluids away from heat sources.
      • Never leave the barbecue unattended once it has been lit.
  28. Pet policies
  29. Pets are not allowed.
  30. You Liabilities
    1. Management will hold you responsible for any damage or loss caused to our property by your act or omissions, default, accident or neglect.
    2. By booking with us you agree to indemnify us and to pay us on demand an amount reasonably required to make good or to rectify such damage or loss caused by you. Normal wear and tear are excluded.
    3. Please report any accidents or incidents to the guest house management in connection with any property damage.
  31. General incapacity
    1. À la Maison Guest House cannot be held liable if any of the following events or conditions prevents the guest house from fulfilling its obligations to guests. However, the guest house will take necessary steps to minimize disruption and discomfort to guests under these conditions;
      • Unanticipated interruption to electricity, water, sewage
      • Industrial actions, civil uprising or criminal activity.
